It has been close on three years since i faded, the good advice on here helped me not to make some huge blunders by blurting out what i was learning. However during that time i have approached five or six who no longer associate with the congregation, one who was disfellowshipped over 30 years ago. To a man the fear was palpable, to engage in any criticism of the watchtower, even sticking to factual evidence still these guys were very uncomfortable. I feel there are probably many reasons for this reaction but the main reason is FEAR. your thoughts please.

Demonizing the internet
by should have known better inas most here are aware the watchtower society has over the years discouraged use of the internet ( it looks as if this is set to change) as such my opinion of it was very much conditioned by their tactics of information control.
i do not considor myself computer savvy as i did not grow up with computers and my employment did not bring me into contact with them.
my thoughts are that maybe there is a lot of baby boomers out there in similar circumstances to myself who have yet to wake up.

UK convention dramas recorded by American actors - the GB's yearly gaffe
by cedars ini'm just curious as to whether any of my fellow brits ever pondered how the society can be so stupid as to insist using the us drama tapes at uk conventions rather than having them re-recorded in a british accent?.
as all of us brits know, the convention drama is a subject of subdued derision among uk publishers - and i've been to many a party or social gathering where, at some point, somebody whose had a little too much coke re-enacts a scene from a drama mockingly (typically by gesturing wildly into the air and saying "jer-ho-vah gaaard!!
" in an over-the-top american accent).. what the society clearly doesn't understand is that the dramas really lose their emotional impact with british audiences when performed in an american accent by amateurs.

Ah, the thought of having to sit through one of those dramas, not something to relish. Dan sydlik was mentioned in this thread he married an english sister and seemed to be a regular visitor to england, making regular guest apearences at DCs andCAs usually closing the convention by speaking pure waffle and going overtime, i bet he never recieved counsel on timing. ah memories (best forgotten)

Just some personal ramblings. Move on if you want to argue.
by OnTheWayOut inokay, first of all: i like the earth, the polar bears, the whales, and any other part of the planet that someone wants to help.
i appreciate any efforts that people exert.
the planet is going through global warming and pumping exhaust from automobiles and factories and other sources does contribute to the global warming.

Thank you all for the wellcome,
It has been a little over two years since i woke up, it has been a not too bumpy ride as there is some very good advice on this site as to how to not create waves when you realize the real truth.
A big thank you to many of the posters on here who have made my exit a lot easier than it may have been. bye for now.more later

try again,
Hello everyone,
The the above heading is a quote from the movie the bourne ultimatum, the candidate for a training program to convert him into an illegal assasin is asked the above question, thinking he is doing the right thing he submits. It reminded me many years ago as an idealistic young man i was asked will you have a bible study? or should really have been will you have a watchtower publication study? Fast forward many years and thanks to wikipedia and a link to ray franz here i am, as one of my favourite posters on here is named on the way out, or well on the way out may be more apt in my present situation bye for now.
